The Groves Middle School Art Department is hosting an Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Southeast Texas Food Bank.

Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement by artists in cities and towns around the world to care for and feed the hungry in their communities. Empty Bowls supports food-related charitable organizations around the world and has raised millions of dollars to help end hunger.

The Groves Middle School Empty Bowls Preview Party--April 16, 2020, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The preview party is the first of two events. On Thursday, April 16, 2020, this party will allow guests to sample food made by several local restaurants and the Groves Middle School PTA. Come join us in the Groves Middle School Cafeteria and enjoy delicious food and beautiful art. Our bowls have been made by local artists, current students, and GMS Art teachers. We are hoping to have live entertainment.

Groves Middle School Empty Bowls Gumbo Cookoff--April 18, 2020

The Empty Bowls Gumbo Cookoff will be held in Downtown Port Neches on Saturday, April 18, 2020.  Located next to the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce, the event will include a gumbo tasting, live entertainment, and events for the kids.  Gumbo will be served at 11:00 a.m. and the contest winners will be announced at 1:30 p.m.  A trophy will be awarded to the first-place team.

T-shirts will also be available and any remaining pottery bowls will be available for sale.

Cookoff Team Entry Fee:  $50.00

Wristband to sample the gumbos -- $10.00 Adults      Children under 12 -- $5.00
